Pin-It or Pitch-It Avocado Face Mask

August 7, 2015 by MC Leave a Comment

design (11)Avocado face masks are one of the best and most nutritious masks that you can use on your skin. I’m always looking for new ways to keep my skin youthful and healthy. So, I searched Pinterest for a refreshing mask that I can make at home!

Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, avocados are moisturizing without clogging pores… What you may not know is that avocados also contain Vitamin C, a natural skin brightener for any sunspots you may have recently acquired. JACKPOT!

I found a DIY Face Mask by the Beauty Munsta… and it only calls for two ingredients, Avocado and Yogurt. Easy enough.

avacado

What You’ll Need:
1 avocado
1/4 cup yogurt

Directions
1. Cut an avocado into two halves. Using a clean spoon, scoop out the avocado and place it in a small bowl.
2. Add yogurt.
3. Mash and mix up the two ingredients until you form a thick & creamy paste.

It's go time!

It’s go time!

The original recipe called for one teaspoon of avocado and one teaspoon of yogurt, I went ahead and used the whole avocado… that way there is plenty to smear around!

So, what’s the verdict?

Pros: It’s easy and doesn’t require many ingredients

Cons: It’s messy! Prep to get the mixture all over the place during application.

Overall- I’d say it was a Pin-It! It’s going to take some time to see the results as far as skincare goes, but a recipe this easy to do to is worth trying! Click Here for the Deep Hydrating Avocado Mask.

What is your favorite at-home remedy? Share it with me, maybe I can give it a try on my blog!

July 15, 2015 by MC Leave a Comment

It’s the ultimate summer hairstyle that takes you from the office to happy hour or the gym to the beach, a cool braid will never let you down. Let’s be honest though, can you create one of these luxurious looks without a visit to the stylist?

I searched Pinterest for hairstyle tutorials that were beautiful and easy for me to do in a pinch. I found a lot of different looks that could help me get out of this ponytail rut. A blog called “Twist My Pretty” posted this gorgeous style with a tutorial.

The blogger says, “This is probably the prettiest hairstyle I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.  Not only is it simply gorgeous, but it’s incredibly easy.  I learned a new technique on getting braids to look fuller, so make sure you checkout the video tutorial.  You’re just going to die!”

I can do a single braid in a snap, but can I pull off the “Braided Crown”?

I watched this tutorial, followed her the step-by-step directions… and…It’s not perfection, but for my first time… I think it turned out fabulous! DID I MENTION IT ONLY TOOK ME ABOUT 45 SECONDS?!

“I encourage everyone to get out of their comfort zone, because you might just find a new one”.  I did, half way around the world!”

Just a few short years ago Myra Grayson bought two goats to clear the brush on her property and now she has a new found passion for goats.  She refers to her herd as her “kids” and each goat has a name.  She and her high school sweetheart care for these animals at their own oasis, Grayslland Acres.

These acres are picturesque, goats grazing the open land is Myra’s happy place.  She soon found another use for her goats and began making soap and lotions out of their milk. Goat milk is wonderful because it has the same Ph as human milk.

Last year, she was invited to go Kenya with a mission group called  Centerwill. Myra and the missionaries taught women the trade of making goat milk soap.  This forever changed her life and now Myra goes annually to share her love of these sweet animals with women half way around the world.   Myra proves it is never too late to find your joy… and sharing your joy is one of the greatest fulfillment’s ever!

Here’s latest adventure with Myra “crazy goat lady” that’s making the world a better place!

Pin It or Pitch It! Summer Salad Challenge

June 15, 2015 by MC Leave a Comment

If you’re having a party or simply searching for a dish for dinner, Pinterest is a great platform to find the perfect recipe. I pin 10 or 15 recipes every time I log-on the addictive site and RARELY go back and actually make any of these dishes. Not any more! I decided to bite the bullet and whip up one of these summer salads.

Like a lot of busy-home-chefs out there, I tend to choose the recipes that are quick, healthy and requires minimal or no cooking. I found a Cucumber, Avocado and Feta Salad recipe from a blog called “Two Peas and Their Pod”. It has few ingredients, it’s healthy, and it’s supposed to taste like summer. Let’s do this.

Cucumber, Avacado and Feta Salad

What You Need:

 • 1 large, seedless cucumber
• 3 large avocados
• Juice of 1 lemon
• ⅓ cup crumbled feta cheese
• 1 Tbsp finely chopped fresh dill
• Salt and black pepper

Stir together chopped cucumber, avocado, feta cheese, fresh lemon juice and dill. Season with salt and pepper and voila!

Now for the fun part, the taste test. This salad is delicious! The flavors are bold and tangy; it’s a perfect mid-afternoon snack or side dish. Best part? It only took me 5 minutes to make!

Easy as 1-2-3!
